For the past month EYE have been taggin' up a retired Tire Factory for a massive party/art installation to Benefit City Academy. This will also be a prequel to my solo show "Peat Street & EYEZ" at Hoffman LaChance Contemporary in December and at Art Basel in Miami.

Please come in clothes you don't mind getting dirty if you want add some paint to this building while enjoying amazing EATZ and BEATZ by DJ MAHF. EYE will be painting LIVE with Chicago's own "ENDER" and you will have a chance to win one of these pieces as well!

New York City is rich with colors, sounds, textures, personal exchanges and human interactions, a scene constantly in motion. Through the busy veil of urban lifestyles is an artistic detail that binds the city together. Mighty Tanaka is excited to present: Iconography, A Reflection of Anonymity. Featuring the artwork of Matt Siren, Peat Wollaeger (stenSOUL), Royce Bannon, Chris and Veng of Robots Will Kill and 2Esae and SKI o...f URnewyork, they represent an accurate cross section of the street art one finds in NYC and beyond.

Each artist demonstrates their own personal blend of techniques and styles as they have developed a highly personalized means of branding their work, and ultimately, themselves. The icons they choose to place on the streets hold an individualized significance, a means of projecting self onto a surface interpreted by the general public. Their work represents a generation’s visionary artistic approach to the urban landscape.

Through a variety of methods including wheat paste, screen print, spray paint, stencils and more, their chosen techniques encompass a broad spectrum of what one encounters on the streets today. However, it is the integrity of the iconic imagery that translates the rawness of the streets into the refinement of the gallery setting.

On Saturday July 31st 2010, 24 artists will converge in Beacon, NY to create live artwork and have their work installed on the exterior of a 19th century factory building. Electric Windows draws its name from the former electric blanket factory at the foot of Mount Beacon that will act as the backdrop for the event.

In addition to the live art and installation this year’s event includes 2 aditional Installation sites, 9 live music acts, food Vendors, dancing by M*POWER ELITE TEAM, and live screen printing by Buxtonia. This is an event not to be missed!

R.I.P. Myrna Loy...my dog and best friend!!!
...Some pic of her life!

Myrna came to me from the streets of Chicago...she was beaten and Bruised,
and a time in my life when I needed her most (I had recently been Shot in a Drive-By Shooting and was weary on the streets alone).

Last week I took her in to the vet because she was hobbling along...
I thought it was hip-dysplasia...but the vet said it was Arthritis and we left with
some medication. Well two days Later Myrna's Back Leg inflated like a Balloon so I took her back. This time another doctor found large Tumors on her belly....It was Cancer...the leg was inflated because the tumors were blocking fluid in the leg.

IT did not look good...the cancer was quickly engulfing her body and time was running out fast...So that night we decided to celebrate her life. WE gave her Steak and we had Hot Dogs. By Friday she had gotten so bad I had to put her Down.

It was probably the hardest thing I ever had to do...
But it taught me much about how presious life is and we all live a Cycle.

I will never forget you Myrna Loy! You will forever be in my Shadows!

It's been almost 8 years since I lived in Chicago...this will be my first major exhibit of works in this town except for a few small group shows since.

I will be featuring my Latest EYEZ series along with works by two other Stencils artists from Chicago and Seattle!

Show Info:
Stencil art has a long, long history....like ancient. The history spans from pre-historic times (where the hand may have been the very first stencil pattern) through Edo period Japan, into Europe where Picasso, Matisse and many others experimented with "pochoir" (French for stencil) and onto the streets around the globe in more modern times.
For our next exhibit we take a look at three artists working with stencils today. St. Louis -based Peat Wollaeger brings us a character-rich cartoon-inspired style with a graffiti edge and will be featuring his latest stencil series "EYEZ," Chicago artist David Soukup explores the use of stencils to create intricate architecture-inspired works and Seattle-based Jonathan Wakuda Fischer mixes Japanese themes with modern culture and vibrant colors.
The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2009 from 6 until 10pm. All three artists will be in attendance.

mostly for good health care for my family.

5 YEARS LATER
(and many more commissions)

I almost do well enough financial to support my family,
but I STILL have my day gig with health benefits,
because it's too expensive to pay for on my own.

I know this is a massive concern and a similar situation for many Americans.

My "Hope" is that Barrack Obama will finally find a solution and create an affordable care system for all so I can finally free myself from working for "the Man" and focus more on creating art full-time.

I recently was a part of a mural project with Micahael Defeo, Depoe, Mark Jenkins, Leon Reid IV, B Walsh and more.
We were commishioned to paint the abandon Prison walls in Jefferson City, MO as a part of Art inside the park. Well I am not sure what happend but, the folks from the prison redevelopment group were livid. I am not sure why, I guess they do not understand the value of public art, these wall are on the interior portion of the prison, and the only thing they are currently using the space for is parking. NOw they are "Cleaning" the walls at a cost of $20,000 and not to mention the possiblity of Lead to wash off downhill in to the Mississippi river. Read more about the BUFFED WALLS here

Luchador Collabomask - this Saturday!!! SF

Stencil graffiti artist, Peat Wollaeger is at it again. The 2nd Edition of his Luchador Collab-O-Mask show is pulling into San Francisco on March 8th at On Six Gallery(club six).

Peat has reached out to his fellow artists to do collaborative designs on his trademark Wooden Luchador Masks. Collaborative Artists in the show include: Andy Howell, Robert Hargrave, Shawn Barber, Mike Maxwell, MCA, UPSO, Damion Silver, Food One, Pourous Walker, Process Magazine, Daryell Peirce, Mildred and many more! Over 40 masks will be on display.

Be sure to check the show if you’re in the area its going to be some seriously Concentrated Art Power that night! Be sure to wear your Lucha Libre Mask!

The VIP open starts at 7pm and will Feature Peat's Dew Bottle, stenSOUL videos, Live painting, along with many other surprises and give-a-ways. (YOU MUST RSVP if you want to go)

The evening is also a launch party for the latest issue of Juxtapoz Magazine - Veni Vedi Veci @ 10pm
